Registration Opens for Two London Conventions
posted on by Andrew Osmond
Registration has just opened for two conventions in London, London Anime Con in July (following a sell-out event earlier this month) and a sister event, London Gaming Con in November. Both two-day events will take place at the Rocket Complex in Holloway Road, the venue for previous Anime Cons.
The third London Anime Con takes place on July 30th and 31st. It offers a masquerade, manga and cosplay workshops, anime screenings, J-culture talks, video gaming, live music, and much more. The second London Anime Con, held earlier this month, sold out before the event, except for evening passes.
The London Gaming Con will follow on November 26th and 27th. As the name suggests, its focus is on gaming, offering a Handheld Zone, a Fighting Zone (fighting games), a Retro Zone (old-school consoles) and a Tabletop Zone. However, there will also be anime screenings and a cosplay competition.
The Rocket Complex is at 166 Holloway Road, near the Holloway Road underground station. As the lower level of the Rocket Complex is a licensed bar, both events are restricted to attendees aged 18 and older. For customers who pre-pay now, the price for each event is currently £15 for two days, or £8 for one. (If you register, you need to bring a valid ID to the event - for example, a Passport or Driver's License.)
Both events are run by AnimeLeague, which also runs the Alcon conventions at De Montfort University in Leiceseter. The next event will run four days from Thursday 8th - Sunday 11th September, and registration will open next week. Unlike the London events, Alcon will be open to anyone over 16.
