posted on by Egan Loo
Shuntarō Ōsawa's Gota Keshi: Jidan Kōshōnin Shirai Torajirō manga will spawn a weekly live-action television series called Jidan Kōshōnin Gota Keshi, which will premiere on Yomiuri TV, NTV, and affiliates at 11:58 p.m. on Thursday, January 6, 2011. Akihiro Nishino (Pokémon: Lucario and the Mystery of Mew) of the comedy duo King Kong will play the title character Torajirō Shirai, who is known as "Gota-Keshi Byakko" or "Problem-Solving White Tiger." Shirai can analyse other people's deepest thoughts, and he makes any and all disputes go away as a professional negotiator.
Tetsuya Ōishi (Letter Bee, live-action Beck/Death Note/Higanjima films) is writing the series. Actress Shiori Kutsuna will play Shirai's intermediary Akino Sakura, while Gori (Jungle Emperor Leo) of the comedy duo Garage Sale will play a bar owner named Shingo Fujii.
The original manga has been running in Shueisha's Super Jump magazine since 2008, and the fifth compiled book volume shipped last month.
