Priest Manhwa Movie Adaptation Delayed to May 2011
posted on by Gia Manry
The live-action movie adaptation of Min-Woo Hyung's Korean manhwa Priest has been delayed from March 4, 2011 to May 13, 2011 due to issues with its conversion to 3D.
Director Scott Stewart's movie stars Paul Bettany as the titular priest who attempts to rescue his niece from vampires. Also starring in the film are Cam Gigandet, Maggie Q, Karl Urban, and Christopher Plummer.
This is the film's third delay. The adaptation was originally announced with an October 2010 release date. The project was then pushed back until January 2011 in order to be converted to 3D, and then pushed back further to March 2011 to accommodate the 3D conversion of the Green Hornet film.
The North American publisher Tokyopop announced in 2001 that it had acquired the original Priest manhwa, and it plans to reprint the series under the title Priest: Genesis. The publisher had announced, before the movie's recent date moves, that it would publish a Priest: Purgatory graphic novel to bridge the original manhwa and the live-action movie adaptation.
