Kimi wa Pet/Tramps Like Us Manga Gets Korean Film
posted on by Egan Loo
Korean actor Jang Geun-suk will star in a live-action film adaptation of Yayoi Ogawa's Kimi wa Pet romantic comedy manga, and the film is slated for release in South Korea in the later half of the year. In the manga, Sumire Iwaya is a career woman who was just demoted by her boss and dumped by her fiance for his pregnant mistress. Depressed, she encounters a homeless boy on the street and facetiously offers to take him home as a pet. However, the boy surprises Sumire by agreeing to the proposition. Jang will play the "pet boy."
Tokyopop published the original manga under the name Tramps Like Us in North America. The manga was already adapted into a live-action television series in Japan in 2003. Jang had previously starred in a Korean live-action film version of Marimo Ragawa's Baby & Me (Akachan to Boku) slice-of-life manga.
