Ireland's Japanese Film Festival 2009 to Show Ponyo
posted on by Egan Loo
Ireland's Japanese Film Festival 2009 will screen a preview of Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli's Ponyo film starting this Saturday, October 31, at Town Hall Theatre at Galway. The festival will then travel to the University of Limerick on November 2 and 3; the Kino Cinema in Cork on November 13, 14, and 15; and Cineworld in Dublin on November 20, 21 and 22.
In addition to the Oscar-winning Departures and the popular romantic comedy Shall We Dance, the festival will screen the "2.0" special edition of Mamoru Oshii's Ghost in the Shell anime film, Hiroyuki Kitakubo's Blood: The Last Vampire anime film, and the live-action Kamikaze Girls film adaptation of Novala Takemoto's Shimotsuma Monogatari novel. (Not all of the venues will show all of the films.) A schedule is available in the festival's brochure.
The Ponyo film will officially open in the United Kingdom on February of 2010.
