MD County Removes Dragon Ball Manga from All Schools
posted on by Egan Loo
Superintendent of Schools Dr. John Fredericksen announced last Thursday that the Dragon Ball manga will be removed from all public school media centers in Wicomico County, Maryland. A mother told county council member Joe Holloway that her nine-year-old fourth-grader had borrowed the first volume from the Pittsville Elementary and Middle School's library. Holloway showed what he described as "sexual" content in the volume at an October 6 council meeting.
The ban covers not only copies in Pittsville Elementary and Middle School, but also Parkside High School. The Board of Education committee that made the decision was still reviewing the Dragon Ball Z sequel manga series.
