Japanese Animation DVD Ranking, February 17-23

According to the Mainichi Shimbun paper's Mantan Web site, Macross Frontier volume 7 was the top-selling Blu-ray Disc during its first week of release with 17,000 copies sold. All seven volumes of Macross Frontier were the #1 Blu-ray Discs during their first week of release, and the Blu-ray Disc sales for Macross Frontier have regularly topped the DVD sales.
The standard edition for Toshio Li's live-action film adaptation of Kiminori Wakasugi's Detroit Metal City rock comedy manga dropped from #5 to #6 in its second week. It moved 9,943 more copies for a total of 30,318. The special edition (pictured at right) dropped from #6 to #21, but sold 3,623 more copies to add to its total of 16,874. Saraba Kamen Rider Den-O Special Event: Saraba Imajin! Nihon Zenkoku Climax Da Ze~!! debuted at #10 by selling 8,607 copies. Yukihiko Tsutsumi's first live-action film based on Naoki Urasawa's 20th Century Boys suspense manga fell from #9 to #18 in its fourth week. It sold 4,333 more copies to add to its total of 88,018.
