USA Today Booklist: January 12-18: Naruto Hangs On
posted on by Mikhail Koulikov
After coming close to dropping out of the USA Today newspaper's list of the top 150 bestselling books at #140 in the previous week, volume 33 of Masashi Kishimoto's Naruto manga (Viz Media) sold enough copies between January 12 and January 18 to rise slightly in ranking. On the latest list, which was compiled based on sales in chain, independent bookstores, Amazon.com, and other online retailers, volume 33's sales put it in the #137 position.
While Naruto has consistently made the list, only a handful of other manga titles have sold strongly enough to put them in the top 150 in the last two years. These include volumes of Tite Kubo's Bleach (Viz), Ken Akamatsu's Negima (Del Rey), Natsuki Takaya's Fruits Basket (Tokyopop), and Shiro Amano's Kingdom Hearts (Tokyopop).
