Takahashi's Ice Blade Manga to Relaunch in Japan
posted on by Egan Loo
The October issue (released on August 25) of Kodansha's Afternoon magazine has announced some of the manga titles that will launch in the Good! Afternoon spinoff magazine's premiere issue on November 7. After ending the original Jiraishin detective action manga in 2000, Tsutomu Takahashi will restart his most popular creation under the title Jiraishin diablo. Tokyopop published the original manga run under the name Ice Blade in North America. Masayuki Ishikawa is still drawing Moyashimon: Tales of Agriculture in Kodansha's Evening magazine, but he will launch Junketsu no Maria - Sorcière de gré, pucelle de force in Good! Afternoon. Junketsu no Maria (Chaste Mary) is apparently a wordplay on Seishojo Maria (Virgin Mary). The first issue will also bundle a Maria figure from the model maker Kaiyodo.
Artist Mimori (Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Yoigoshi-hen) will adapt Hinowa Kōzuki's long running Jigokudō Reikai Tsūshin novel series. The supernatural fantasy novels have already been adapted as an anime video and a live-action film. Kon Kimura (Karan, Kobe Zaijū) will relaunch his Kyo-musume (Giant Girl) comedy manga about a giant female yakitori shop owner's everyday life. More titles and authors will be announced in the issues of Afternoon leading up to Good! Afternoon's premiere.
