Speed Racer Film to Use 1967 Song, "Animation" Compositing

MTV.com's news blog reports that the live-action Speed Racer film will incorporate the 1967-1968 cartoon adaptation's theme song and use techniques that will emulate the multiple focal points of animation, according to actress Susan Sarandon. Sarandon, who plays the title character's mother, said that the directors Larry and Andy Wachowski obtained the sounds effects and theme from the first Speed Racer dubbing. She confirmed that scenes are being shot in multiple layers with a new high-definition camera system. The layers will then be composited so that "everything is in focus," and saturated to emulate traditional animation.
