Nippon Television Investment Spells Future Anime
posted on by Bamboo Dong
NTV's recent business dealings with Japanese manga publisher may pave the way for more anime.
Nippon Television recently invested 160 million yen in Digima, the publishers of Japan's first free weekly manga magazine, Comic Gumbo. Currently being distributed around Tokyo, the magazine features works from established manga creators like Tatsuya Egawa, Hiroyuki Yoshida, and Kotobuki Shiriagari. NTV, one of the producers of the Death Note anime, plans to pursue anime, film, and drama adaptations of Digima's manga titles, as well as market them overseas.
