posted on by Egan Loo
Namco Bandai makes RPG of Arabian Nights-inspired story which also has anime

This year's 42nd issue of Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine is confirming on Wednesday that Shinobu Ohtaka's Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic fantasy manga is inspiring a Nintendo 3DS role-playing game from Namco Bandai Games. The game is slated for next spring.

As in the manga and the upcoming anime, Aladdin, Ali Baba, and other characters inspired by the classic story One Thousand and One Nights (also known as Arabian Nights) embark on a great adventure exploring dungeons. Namco Bandai will present a teaser promotional video at its Tokyo Game Show 2012 booth at the Makuhari Messe convention center next weekend. The game's official website will also open next week.

The manga's anime adaptation, the 90th anniversary project from Shogakukan, will premiere on October 7 and run every Sunday at 5:00 p.m. on MBS, TBS, and their network of affiliates. The anime's official website has a page that already teased a possible role-playing game for the Nintendo 3DS.
