posted on by Gia Manry
YOSHIKI, the leader of the rock band X Japan, announced on Tuesday that he will hold a series of celebrity auctions on the Yahoo! Japan website, with the proceeds going to the Japanese Red Cross to help victims of the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake (Higashi Nihon Daishinsai) disaster. According to the announcement, the auctions will be "internationally accessible."
The YOSHIKI Foundation, a non-profit organization originally dedicated to helping children with bone marrow disease, recently refocused its efforts to helping earthquake victims. The auctions will be available with English, Korean, Chinese, Russian, Italian, and French translations.
Various American celebrities have donated items for the auctions, including musician Marilyn Manson (who revealed his involvement earlier this month), Anthony Kiedis of the rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers, YOSHIKI comic book collaborator Stan Lee, actor Robert Pattinson, actor James Franco, and actress Reese Witherspoon. YOSHIKI will also auction his piano, as previously announced, via this venue.
