Marilyn Manson, X Japan's Yoshiki Unite for Quake Fund
posted on by Gia Manry
The L.A. Weekly newspaper's blog reports that American rock star and artist Marilyn Manson will be assisting X Japan band founder YOSHIKI with an upcoming fundraising effort aimed at helping the victims of the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake (Higashi Nihon Daishinsai) disaster. YOSHIKI has redirected the efforts of his YOSHIKI Foundation, normally focused on supporting children with bone marrow disease, towards victims of the March 11 earthquake and tsunami for the time being.
Manson announced his participation in YOSHIKI's efforts at the recent opening of a new store for fashion designer Vivienne Westwood in Los Angeles. He did not specify what the project was or what his role in it would be. In the statement, he joked that he was only helping the Japanese because he likes their clothes, but noted that he "just narrowly missed" the earthquake and tsunami by a single day. YOSHIKI himself was in Japan when the disaster struck, and responded by announcing that he would auction off his custom "crystal" piano to raise funds for relief efforts.
ANN has confirmed that the report is not an April Fool's joke.
