posted on by Gia Manry
As part of Sanrio's 50th anniversary celebration, shoemaker Dr. Martens has announced a collection of three Sanrio-themed shoes. These shoes include a black and pink Hello Kitty lace-up boot (US$135), a similarly-colored Mary Jane-style shoe (US$120), and a lace-up boot with a special print featuring Sanrio characters such as Hello Kitty, ChocoCat, My Melody, and others (US$165). Each shoe is currently available for pre-order and will ship "after 9/1/10."
Sanrio was founded on August 10, 1960. In Japan, Sanrio is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a large Hello Kitty display on Tokyo's artificial island of Odaiba. Hello Kitty also celebrated her 36th birthday with SMAP member and live-action Space Battleship Yamato actor Takuya Kimura. In 2009, Hello Kitty joined forces with X Japan to create Yoshikitty, a version of Hello Kitty based on X Japan's YOSHIKI.
