Maybe I'm the only one who thinks this is expensieve? 5 bucks for a single episode that I "rent" for only two days?. One month of CR Premium Membership is just about the same price in my region, so I find it insane to pay all that for just one episode

It's about the cheapest Gundam Unicorn's been, though.

I think the viewing time should be increased from 2 days to 5-7 days, it would be better. If that is not possible then 3 days would be a plus from 2 days.

But considering how Daisuki is the only company with rights to bring legal Gundam content outside of Japan that has yet to be licensed, I can see why they are doing what they are doing.

I don't think this is a bad price. Five or so dollars is the amount one would pay to rent a disc from BlockBuster or another rental store. It isn't like streaming is going to be any different than not-owning the rental disc.

How much was it on the Playstation network when it was first released?
I think about the same price, right? I wonder how the quality is on Daisuki... Does is compare to the 1080p on the Playstation network?

Yeah, I wonder if this is in HD too.

IIRC iTunes SD rentals are about 2 or 3.99 and HD is a buck higher. Amazon Instant is around the same too. So this price isn't really that bad.

Daisuki does offer HD videos, but I couldn't find any information on their website as to whether Gundam Unicorn is specifically HD.

You'd think it would be in HD.

Pay $5 and find out, I guess?

If it was 2/3 eps I could understand this pricing but at the moment its a tad nuts. Ah well, at least we get to understand what their plans for Daisuki are, some shows you'll pay for, some not.

As others have said it is a pretty standard rental rate if it is HD (for a film anyway), fairly equivalent to any of the major digital rental outfits, Amazon, iTunes etc. If it is SD though it is a bit overpriced.

The confusion comes I guess if you consider this a TV series, which it is not. If it was a TV series then it is definitely overpriced. However these are short OVA films, not TV episodes.

Either way it is still significantly cheaper than the $50/ep you have to currently pay to own all six episodes.

You guys look at the wrong price. it's 499 yen, not $5.

Yes, there is a different.
Yen vs dollar has been dropping like crazy. At the beginning of the year, 499 yen would be like $6+.

The yen was dropping, but lately seems to have leveled out a bit more. Currently, 499 Japanese Yen equals 5.090 US Dollars.

Also, I personally find this to be too expensive and a disappointing business model.
