So looks like J-pop could probably hit it big if this does well, this is good news!!! Looks like Japan is learning something from the K-pop worldwide explosion. I like to also add that MTV is bringing back MTV K this summer due to the rising popularity of K-pop in the US. But this is a good step to give J-pop a huge boost to a international audiences, but J-pop can do more:
-NHK World needs to have more J-pop programs other then J-Melo. On Arirang TV, there's a lot of K-pop programs like Simply K-pop, Pops in Seoul, Showbiz Korea, and After School club. KBS World also has K-pop programs also like Music Bank, and other programs. -On Dramafever, there are K-pop programs like Inkigaiyo, and MBC Music Core on there for international audiences to watch so that is keeping K-pop popularity dominant. I don't see any J-pop programs/shows on Dramafever. So Japan need to make use of DF if they want J-pop to replicate the same success like K-pop outside of Asia. -Itunes: I find more K-pop albums then J-pop one for international audiences. I can't find Namie Amuro, Koda Kumi, or Ayumi Hamasaki album on Itunes. You want J-pop to get the same success like K-pop outside of Asia, put more J-pop on Itunes. This is certainly a big step for J-pop to get more exposure outside of Asia. |
