Does that mean they will also release the light novels? If so, that'll be awesome!

Nope. Press release only states they have the license for the anime.

I;m pretty sure them having bothered dubbing it at all means they were planning to at least attempt a release to begin with so I don't know why the article acts as though that was in question. Pretty good news though I guess since it means we'll be getting more merchandise in the states and whatnot. Doubt it'll lead to the LN's coming stateside but who knows...

Assuming that is "videogram" and not a mistake for "video game" wouldn't that imply Viz has confirmed a home release for the series?

That was never in doubt. User WTK who provides a lot the release info posted that Accel World's projected home release was September back in March

From what I understand, that was just an assumption of where it may end up if Viz decided to pick up the rest of the rights to it. It's looking like that might be the case after all...

Two things:

1. Is there a difference between a "Master Lincensee" and a regular license?

2. I hope I am wrong, but dubbing does not mean home release automatically for Viz. Does anyone remember Monster? For some reason they only released the first 15 (out of 74) episodes on DVD, despite having all the series dubbed.

It sounds to me like they've gotten every possible right to the show in North America, rather than just getting a subset.

That makes sense. Thanks.

Wonder they went all in on this series. It's decent, but it doesn't possess any staying power like Dragonball and that sort. It's just another disposable anime. It comes, it goes, we move on to new stuff.

The article put that in doubt when it shouldn't have been. The press release states they have videogram rights which means there will be a home video release.

They did release some of it though so yes dubbing usually equates to at least an attempt of a physical release. Waste of money otherwise

AFAIK Master Licensee means they have rights to all related products including games and merchandise.

If they're the master licensee, they'd want to spread this as far as they could, maybe even get it on TV.
