I expected this one to go to Funimation, so this is good news for those in other countries and CR subscribers.
Despite CR having this one for Ireland, it appears Anime on Demand will have this one for the UK: https://twitter.com/animeondemand/status/286568252115660800 |

Among other agrarian and scientific advancements. Basically, spoiler[Demon Queen is trying to end war by improving living standards, and giving soldiers something to do if they lay down their arms, other than soldiering and being belligerent.] The manga version I read (the popular one) comes off more like Medieval to Renaissance Agricultural Systems and Rural Life 1001 than it is "unlikely romantic love story that just so happens to be pre-industrial". |

Still sound a little dry. I expect a lot of dialog.

If its a dialogue driven series, then ARMs should take note from Shaft and focus on the eyecandy during all the talking.

I am going to laugh if ARMS actually RESTRAINED themselves on overloaded eyecandy shots. |

Hopefully this isn't one of the million licenses Sentai gets this season and Funi picks it up down the line.

Fifty Shades, SAO, now this. Who says fanfic doesn't pay? Maybe this'll give hope to would-be artists today.

Does that mean I better go tell my younger sister to publish her One Direction fanfiction? ![]() |

I don't know why but this seems quite interesting and different... and being different is good in my eyes. Well, we'll see how it ends up.

If you mean fan fiction in the literal sense (fiction based off characters and scenarios from another creator), then I'd say it's a sad trend. Yes, there may be no "true" originality out there now, but it is frustrating to see so many stories ride on the coattails of popular works and trends. (That's essentially what Fifty Shades was. No matter how many millions of dollars it made, it was still a Twilight fan fic with the character names and descriptions changed.) Creators should at least strive for a sense of originality and innovation. Still, more fans creating their own original works mean that there are probably more "fan-friendly" works out there than ever before -- and I am at least happy about that. Back on-topic: I'm interested in Maoyu, but it sounds like the type of story that would be hit-or-miss with me. I'll just have to see how it goes. |
