It's too soon. Going to end up like the Gantz anime adaptation if done now. Sad

Personally I think it has enough material to be done right even if they went for an original ending. It just depends on who gets it and what kind of time slot it runs in. Since they said Spring I assume it'll be taking Magi's slot since the series is obviously big enough to run there.

The bigger concern is who's producing it...

Shouldn't that be "The Attacking Titans"?

Unless the story is actually set on Saturn's moon, I think the Japanese publisher has mistranslated the title.

"Magi" comes on Sunday afternoons. I doubt they're going to have people getting getting eaten alive on screen in that slot (if it were the 1980's it might be another story, but...).

Plenty of shows on that time slot such as Fullmetal Alchemist, got away with a pretty good amount of violence. I see no reason why Titan couldn't do the same. The series is so popular in Japan, they'd have to be stupid not to at least try it.

Also I wonder if this is related to that Project Attack thing from the other day...timing sounds about right and it would be interesting to see Araki do another manga adaption.

Once I heard about this, that was the first thing I thought. The staff for "Attack" looks like something that would work on a show of this type, and both are being unveiled same day... I'd be surprised if they aren't the same project.

While I barely slogged through the first volume (the combination of terrible art and soul-crushingly depressing plot skeleton) I'll keep an eye out for this adaptation. Several times have I seen an anime take a manga/novel with potential and polish up its somewhat clumsy approach to its own story.

Hope that's the case here.

Great news!

Wishful thinking but I hope it end at a convenient place while adapting the manga instead of an original (and probably terrible) ending.

Then when there's more chapters make another season (assuming the anime sells well).

Ha ha... yeah, I don't see this as a seller. They're lucky to get one season, let alone more. The gory/horror stuff never does well.

Err no offense but, have you SEEN how well the manga sells in Japan? It does over 300K per volume and that's without an anime adaption backing it up. Frankly it would be more surprising if it didn't sell well.

Of course I do think it's a tossup as to whether or not they'll do an original ending or a second season. There's enough material for either to be plausable.

Manga sales mean nothing to DVD sales, since they are aimed at different audiences. Manga is aimed at a more mainstream crowd, while anime is aimed at the otaku crowd. Otakus have shown time and time again to not like horror and gory anime, so I don't see why this would be the exception.

A good example is Deadman Wonderland... it was one of the top 20 selling manga the year it aired, yet it was the worst selling anime of its entire season in Japan. Another and Mirai Nikki are other examples of really popular source materials yet sold absolutely nothing when adapted to anime.

Deadman Wonderland isn't exactly the best example to use. Yes the manga was a top seller but the anime adaption itself was considered pretty mediocre all around and was done by an unpopular studio. Besides who's to say this is being aimed at otaku? With how well the manga sells it's much more likely to take Magi's slot when it ends in spring
