Damn, I wish Otakon would have gotten him.

Wow AnimeFest, I love you. Finally Texas has a large convention that actually wants to focus on anime and is willing to bring over big name industry talent for the fans.

It seems like AFest gets him every year. I should show my gratitude and actually sit down at his panel for once instead of holing up in the hotel room to avoid the daytime crowds...

You and me both. It's been years since he was last at Otakon, as far as I recall.
Maybe Otakon will still book him? I certainly hope so, as Otakon's current guest list does not befit its status as the 2nd largest con in North America.
Their only "worthy" guest thus far, the Studio Madhouse founder, is a perennial guest at the much-smaller Animazement in North Carolina, and he is normally there along with a whole bevy of interesting Japanese guests. Hell, Animazement even had better English dub actors than Otakon has so far this year. Otakon dwarfs that con in every way, yet it is failing on the guest front. How does this happen??!
I've heard it said that the bulk of Otakon's guest list is dictated by the industry guests, but that's no excuse.
Sometimes I wish I were on the Otakon staff, so I could see how the ball constantly gets dropped on major issues year after year, but then I realize that I would have gone postal were I a staffer after seeing the ball dropped in some major way or another each year.
The silver lining is that, if the guest list doesn't improve, I won't have to go to many autograph sessions, which is good as Otakon still hasn't managed to establish an autograph system that doesn't involve uninformed staffers and a fan stampede.

Seriously? Still?
I haven't been back in six years and it's still a mess?

Seriously. Autographs are certainly do-able, if you're patient, but if I can find the guest at another con I'd rather get the bulk of my stuff signed there. Otakon's variable picture and item limits are brutal.
If you haven't been in 6 years, you missed some awesome stuff. The legendary Fire Drill, the addition of the Hilton, and the rise and fall of the awesome programming brought by Bandai and, to a lesser extent, Geneon. Come to think, 6 years ago, ADV still existed and ran panels. I miss those days. The Dealers Room was also more impressive back in "the day".
