Onward Toward Our Noble Deaths made me very sad, uncomfortable, and grateful for what I have. To me the narrative was a bit bumpy at parts, but the story has lingered and will continue to stick with me for a long time.

As expected of a Warrior Culture carried to it's logical extreme.

In the end, indoctrination into the military of many countries is based upon incisive use of group perception focused on the individual in order to guilt them into better performance. Frustrating, dreary, and in those small victories even exultant, one cannot underestimate the power of a shame-based social group. Hearing Mizuki's own biography, I can't help but empathize, with the rage he may never allowed to voice. Not everyone is given the chance to speak out, sometimes those of us who are wronged the most.
