So they'll turn it into some superhero comic? Or worse.. the Archie Sonic comics. ![]() |

Sad they are branching out to new stuff, without continuing their flagship title "ARTESIA", which the artist CEO keeps promising to finish up, but never seems to get around to it.
Correction: Mark Smylie CHIEF CREATIVE OFFICER He was the founder of Archaia and the creator of Artesia. Last edited by TarsTarkas on Fri Jun 29, 2012 5:28 pm; edited 1 time in total |

At least I expect the character design of the African cyborg to be updated. These days the old design would be considered offensive.

Your acting like thats a bad thing? ![]() Oh right forgot theres some buggers out there that pointlessly hate on/ bash the book...hmm guess I probably shouldn't mention I'm an avid fan of both it and Archie's Megaman comic. Oh wait, I just did. ![]() Getting back on topic however, I enjoyed the Cyborg 009 anime during its brief stint on Cartoon Network, never got around to reading the original manga however, so heres hoping this graphic novel adaption is a decent one. |

Sounds like they're really gunning for international markets with this one.

Yeah cept sonics not Japanese stuff Its an international franchise, always has been. Yeah the 1st game was made in Japan But yeah SEGA branches all over the globe have worked on the games, and as for toons, well Sonic X an anime is pretty bad as well. Heck SATAM is still the best imo. But hey your entitled to think what you want no skin off my back. |

Also I like to add this isn't the first time this happen, I believe Vampire Hunter D also got a American Comic Book adaptation. Also the adapt foreign stuff into American comic book, movie or something isn't American exclusive. Japan sort of does something similar, remember Toei's Spider-man. I also recalled Batman got a manga. Also anybody know the series, W.I.T.C.H, the comic never got release in Japan but they made a manga based on the comic, so I don't see that being any different from how an American comic company is doing a graphic novel of Cyborg 009. One of my question: Will this graphic novel get a Japanese release. |

Sonic X was great. Not the 4kids dub, but that should be obvious. The less said about the US cartoons and comics, the better. And Sonic is Japanese. Some Sonic games being American made doesn't really change that fact any more than trying to say Metroid isn't a Japanese franchise, or Zelda, or Mario. |

Most games are made in Japan, especially for the popular all ages franchises, Kirby, Mario, Megaman, Sonic, etc. overall where they come from is irrelevant it doesn't make the toons or comics from other countries any less valid. Just like Anime adaptions of American or Europian series/Franchises, they all have their own merit. But yeah not gonna get into this argument with you again TitanXL, no point in trying to talk to a Japanophile about how all media for a franchise like Sonic is equal no matter where it comes from. I will say this though it was SEGA themselves that reached out to companies like Archie & Dic in the 90's to make the comics & toons to help promote the character just like they did with Fleetway in The U.K, and Shogakukan in Japan. They had all the Animatoin and comics commissioned themselves and it was those comics and toons that helped sonic gain popularity in the 90's and helped him keep some of that popularity even while the games *cough Sonic 06 cough* weren't doing that well. Think what you will about the comics & toons, but they are officially licensed SEGA products, they count, they are part of the franchise, just because SOME people dislike them doesn't mean they are any less important to the history of the franchise. Hell, I can't stand Gundam Seed, but that doesn't make it any less important to the history of the Gundam franchise. So its not less said the better, its MORE said the better! But I digress. also @MDO7: Those are some great examples, and lets not forget the CRAZY BRAZILIAN MEGAMAN COMIC. ![]() http://themechanicalmaniacs.com/articles/MMBrazil.php |

I think I know one artist who's involved with that comic, her name is Erica Awano. She has done some manga-inspired work. |

This should be interesting. I'm a huge fan of Cyborg 009, and I desperately wish some of the older anime properties would make it to America in some form (the 1979 anime series is my favorite, even though I've only been able to watch it in Italian). I wish Sony would get off their fat asses and releases the rest of the newer anime to DVD the states (it's been completely dubbed into English, so why not?), and I remember really liking it when it was on Toonami. I wish Tokyopop got around to publishing the whole manga instead of just the original "intended" ending. With the new arc coming out, it would be a great time for a manga company to show some interest.

Besides, the first Matrix movie was a better remake of Megazone anyways.
