Oh Ms. Kanno, you musical minx! I'd love to pick her brain about music (if I could stop giggling like a spaz and keep it cool--probably not).

And is Lady GaGa in everything now?

She is the master writter/composer of this decade. May many other anime and artists be blessed by her gift.

Merry Christmas Yoko Kanno, and may you compose music until the end of time!

Yes, because NHK is desperate to revive the declining Kohaku ratings. Apparently, they got their man, er, woman:

NHK hoping to get Lady Gaga to appear on 'Kohaku Uta Gassen'

TOKYO — NHK says it is negotiating with American singer Lady Gaga, 25, to have her make a special live appearance by satellite TV on its popular New Year’s Eve music program “Kohaku Uta Gassen” (Red and White Song Contest).

Lady Gaga has been in Japan for the past few days to appear on TV Asahi’s “Music Station” on Friday night. She returns to the U.S. on Saturday.

On New Year’s Eve, Lady Gaga is scheduled to take part in a gala countdown event in New York City. NHK is hopeful that she will be able to appear via satellite for “Kohaku,” which would be mid-morning New York time.

Kohaku is moving farther and farther away from enka into regular pop. Laughing
