20th Century Boys is the greatest manga I've ever read, and I really like Viz's presentation of it.

I really like that the identity of Friend is something that, when you finally find out, is so believable. I was kicking myself when I first read this because the clues were all there, and I didn't take it in until the very page he was unmasked.

And this is basically the halfway mark of the story. This isn't even the end of the second arc.

It's such a well-written, well-drawn series with good characterization and a world that pulls you in.

The whole "Let's save the pope" storyline starts a little shaky, but I do like the story of Nintani and how he became a man of God.

Curse you for getting your manga two weeks ahead of the rest of us! I fear my local Borders may be gone by the time the next one comes out... hopefully not!

Borders are closing everywhere, and the news on the grapevine is that ours is on a shortlist to be next. I mean, I hope it won't be, but who knows?

That's weird. I thought it was Barnes that might be getting the axe. My Borders doesn't seem to be having problems and I haven't heard them mention anything about closing down.

A note: the father and son are actually spoiler[Keryon and his son, the guy who gets married in the first volume, and who refused to help Kenji fight Friend on Bloody New Year's eve.]

Also, just remember spoiler[Friend's "died" before, so he may not be out of the picture.]

If I'm not a fan of Monster would I enjoy this? This sounds interesting - but so did Monster.
The story of Monster wasn't bad, I just didn't like how the story was told.

I wasn't a huge fan of Monster, but I am of 20th century. The stories are quite different, and I don't think you can judge whether you'd like 20th Century from wether or not you liked Monster. Monster's more of a mystery manga, and while there is a lot of mystery in 20th Century, it's not the focus, as it's more of a *very* light sci-fi spoiler[disaster epic] (there's not a lot of Sci-fi elements, mostly when they get to the future, cause it's the future, after all). Give the first few volumes a chance. I think you'll like it.
