OMG! This is amazing news! I've been waiting forever for Golgo 13 to get an English dub and it's about bloody time because they should have dubbed this a long time ago.

I know it isn't the movie but does anyone else find it ironic that Golgo 13 TV was announced just days after Macek passed?
I'll be looking forward to double-dipping on the Fist Of The North Star: Legend Of The Dark King DVD set. Surprised to see it also on Blu-ray but that's not for me. Last edited by NJ_ on Fri Apr 23, 2010 1:32 pm; edited 1 time in total |

I don't know much about Golgo 13 but I continue to be encouraged by Sentai's growing commitment to provide English dubs for some of its releases. It would be very sweet if it eventually matches Funi's 100 per cent dub level.

Golgo 13 is pretty much a must-buy for me. I might even consider getting Fist of the North Star, now that it has a blu ray.

This is certainly good news. Does anyone know if this was announced at a con, or if it was just a news release?

Unfortunately for me it doesn't have a dub so I'll just keep the downloads since I only download anime that don't have dubs, it's about the same as not having an international release at all. |

It was a press release. The article links to it if you click the word "announced". This is certainly interesting news. I believe this is the first time Section 23's done a first-run release with the dub intact (since Clannad and the other shows I seem to have forgotten got dubs later). I saw the Golgo 13 movie ages ago, and I remember somewhat liking it. The TV show interested me at one point, but I never gave it a shot. Maybe I'll give this a rental. |

No, it's not the same at all. Not having an international release would mean that there is no official English subtitle release available. Downloading licensed anime is what kills the R1 industry EDIT: On topic, I never thought the Golgo TV series would ever get licensed. I'm not a fan, but I could see myself picking this up eventually since Sentai usually prices their stuff fairly well, though I'm not sure how much this will be since it has a dub. |

Yes it does! The original DVD set don't but the new DVD & Blu-ray sets does have a dub as announced back in March. |

Yet more good news from Neo-ADV. Golgo 13 is a very, very popular detective series...the manga's been out since 1970 and its very much part of Japan's "public consciousness" -- and the TV series is 50 episodes long, so there will be a lot of it.

Then there's fansubs, and besides, suppose an anime does NOT have a release outside Japan like for example Rosario+Vampire or Captain Tsubasa (not an English one at least), it doesn't make a difference weather I, someone who does not live there, downloads it fansubbed or not. Now, I myself prefer dubs, if an anime gets a dub, I buy the DVD. If it doesn't have a dub, I see no point in getting it since I could just download it instead of buying something in another language and doesn't give me the chance to really understand it. Mainly because it'd unluckily be a waste of money if later on a dub is announced. And besides, how can it hurt the industry when so FEW anime get subbed-only releases? 90+% of the time they are licensed to be dubbed. And also, in a way, them releasing subbed-only stuff is hurting themselves. New anime fans will not want to watch subs, so it's not a good way to attract new fans, that's why we need dubs. ------------------------------------------------------------------
Well then, that changes everything, I'll definitely buy it now. DUBS FTW!! (except 4Kids Entertainment Dubs). And I sure hope Tales of the Abyss gets a dub soon. Last edited by darksharingan on Fri Apr 23, 2010 2:10 pm; edited 3 times in total |

I really hope at some point Sentai will go back and dub Hell Girl 2 with as close to the original cast as they can get.
On topic this is good news Without a dub I would not have been to interested in Golgo 13 however with a dub it jumped into my radar. |

Very excellent news! I plan to get Golgo 13 for sure. So if I buy Legends of the Dark King on BD and others do as well, does that mean that SECTION23 can license the Fist of the North Star OVAs and movies that came out from 2006 - 2008? I'd love those on BD!
