As soon as I saw the pros for the Bleach review I knew it would be given a bad mark. I mean, Carlo was really struggling to find good things to say about it.

Actually, on a mildly related point, I like the format for Right Turn Only!!. It certainly does give each volume a fair chance, and anyone interested in reading a particular title can tell if it is for them or not, no matter what grade the title is given.

Ishida more or less saved that volume for me. The seemingly pointless fights are getting to me, but seeing your favourite character kick ass is always fun.

But, is it me or are shounen manga stories stretched out more and more? Saint Seiya only needed 28 volumes to go to the depths of the underworld and back!

Rurouni Kenshin only needed that much as well. Sometimes longer is not better. Want a nice short series? Try King of Thorn.

Anyway, yeah, Bleach is one where I started reading ahead of the American releases and... wow. "Dragged out" is the world's biggest understatement. If you think this is bad, wait until you get a few more volumes down the line, where more than a year's worth of action winds up being completely pointless. I may hate the plot of Naruto, but at least it has one.

And man, I have to write some reviews. I've got at least 3 I could whip off easily.

I hate myself for loving Maid-sama, really I do. I haven't the self control to stop myself.

I prefer Chikyu Misaki and just finished the first volume of Cat Paradise Wink

Currently I'm only keeping up with Bleach because I like the characters, okay, some of them, enough to make it worthwhile.

It was interesting. It is true that Bleach sometimes gets repetitive. The highest reviews were B-'s. Not surprised. Maybe next week will be better.

This is why I've stuck with the series. I like the characters. Sure it gets repetive, but repetitive isn't so bad when it includes characters that one likes. If something is repetitive and has characters one doesn't like, that's when there is a problem.

Seconded. King of Thorn was a great read while it lasted. It got crazier every volume yet never did it hit any kind of lull (which is expected; if a short manga series hits a lull in action, narrative, etc. then it'll end up flat on its face).

That Choujin R does sound like a lot of fun to read. A shame there's no translation.

With Bleach, what were you expecting really? Kubo started this infamous stalling trend of his way before Hueco Mundo.
