If we can even launch a preemptive strike on trainers, then we're basically bad guys at this point, but no pity for them when they have been camping on our way to harrass us for decades so I'm gonna abuse that.

I mean, aren't we just doing what they've done for almost thirty years? Our eyes met even though you're moving in a different direction, or I've been spinning in place, or I have a screen to make me blend into my environment. Let's battle! (Although it looks like we do even get to ATTACK before they find out, so, fair enough. Still wouldn't be shocked if that goes both ways, though, and now we can get sneak attacked by NPC trainers, too.) |

I'm very excited for the new battles but so far it just doesn't get me as excited as Legends: Arceus. That one had a real vibe that you really were out there hunting Pokemon and in this one you're just... in a city and fighting trainers. Cool.
I'll definitely get it if only to check out the battles though. Hopefully if this does mad sales we can get this battle system in the mainline games, the same way Arceus got them the way that the "just throw the ball, you don't have to whittle down every opponent's HP" system into Scarlet/Violet. Also while ragging on Game Freak has been a thing since Sword/Shield, I think this one actually looks pretty good. And hopefully if there are any issues like framerate, playing on the Switch 2 will be able to iron those out |
