Oh wow, so ANN has now published 2 stories involving seiyus/voice actors getting married, well that and one prominent voice actor taking a break due to PTSD/mental health issues. Is New Year Eve supposed to be report on seiyuus marriage and their outside life day or something? Pretty unusual for ANN to be doing 3 reports on voice actors personal life, not that I'm complaining but yeah...

Not that unusual at all; ANN has long reported on these kind of things. It's just a coincidence that a bunch of them came up all at once.

I'm aware of that Key. I just wanted to make sure if it's either a big coincidence or is New Year's Eve the day when this website decided to turn into celebrity entertainment news on voice actors on the last day of 2024.

It's not really coincidence. New Years Eve in Japan is the time where people wish each other well going into the next year. It's also a good time to drop life updates while minimizing the impact it can bring to the more problematic fans. Classic PR playbook.

Celebrities announcing marriage around new year’s day happens every year. A lot of seiyuu announce marriage during last new year’s day. |

Check Interest archive instead. animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2024/01#articles Specifically animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2024-01-01/voice-actors-yuma-uchida-and-rina-hidaka-kanae-ito-kanoko-sudo-4-more-announce-marriages/.206085 Admittedly easy to confuse the two (News and Interest) here but marriages aren't assigned the News label on ANN. Edit: OK I see you got interest in the second link. Yeah, I guess they put them all in one article last year. |

The problem is the article you posted/linked is from Jan 1, 2024, and not Dec 31, 2023. So that doesn't sort of qualify for me. I looked at both News and Interest articles on Dec 31, 2023 and I didn't see anything similar to today's. The only article you linked was dated Jan 1, 2024!!! So it doesn't count per what you said:

Seriously... you are nitpicking on one day... Not everyone announces on New Year's Day exactly, some might do it earlier to get ahead of the rush of announcements or whatever. Hiroshi Kamiya marriage was announced at midnight 12:00AM 1/1 local time which happens to be 12/31 (time of article here) in U.S. There's a delay between announcement and ANN posting an article as well, to account for other time discrepancies. Sure, your original post was specifically New Year's Eve, but reality is, it's not just Eve but the Day of as well, and days around New Year in general. No; New Year's Eve isn't supposed to be a day when ANN reports on marriages or their "outside life day", it's just that there are more of such events around New Year (end/beginning of year) for ANN to report on.
Looks like ANN did a summary article instead of reporting on each individually last year. I probably remembered the individual posts from MAL. The one I linked has six marriages, vs. three so far including the Yuya Hirose one posted just in the last 15 min. |
