I haven't seen the live action version of the Horny Gambler series and I'm not sure I want to see a live action version of the Horny Gambler series, much less imagine seeing an American adaptation of the Horny Gambler series.

Of course, the big question is will they keep the lesbian subtext imagery Kakegurui loves to pull.

It's a Netflix adaption. They're more likely to make characters openly gay.

The producer is Simon Barry, of the unpopular Warrior Nun series, which did had numerous openly gay characters, but also turned a 90s girls with guns comic into a rather visually dull final product. The issue here is that Kakegurui’s innuendos and teasing will be replaced with something a lot duller and more boring. Even the Japanese live-action series replaced the innuendos with some really funny visual reactions.

Great, another franchise will be destroyed by american trying to americanize something.

I'm sure this will be a disaster like the Saint Seiya film, dragon ball one, or many others.

Not to be confused with the Black Entertainment Channel.

The news headline confused me for a moment because I kept on thinking of the BET channel.

Netflix is hit and miss with anime to live action adaptations and mostly miss when it comes to westernized versions of it. I wish them luck but, how about making something original for a change?

why? the JP verison is on netflix already and it's actually good. There's a 0.00000001% chance that this is any good. The actors are all already looking too old for the characters. I'm pretty sure that girl from The Good Doctor is in her 30s considering she was playing a nurse when the show started 7 years ago.

Y'all couldn't find a better series to adapt for live action? What about Gantz? I feel like if there's any series u could make a westernized adaptation of, it's Gantz.

Would you believe that was optioned a few years back? Apparently Julius Avery signed on to direct on 2021, then Sony happened.

I also genuinely thought this was a BET-version of Kakegurui they were making due to the capitalization at first glance.

So I'm guessing the gambling won't be as intense and horny as the source, characters will probably barely resemble themselves (we'll be lucky if they even bother using the school uniform design), and it'll be as Americanized as possible.

I saw a clip of this on YouTube, where a girl was playing Russian Roulette, on the toilet, while masturbating. I get that that scene won't be in the US or Japanese live action version, but still, did someone watch that and go "Hmm, this will make for an ideal streaming show".
