*sigh* This is gonna be like Street Fighter. [I.E., I can't get into the games, so I'll end up watching the anime.] I'd like to see an Onimusha anime, though.

Well the Dante in the anime is not exactly like the Dante in the game. Just to warn you in advance. Wink

Sure he is, just the more mellowed-out DMC1 Dante than the zany one from DMC3.

If anything, Dante's a bit too "hax" in this show. Sure, in the game cutscenes he's shown to be nearly invincible but we get to see him take out bad guys in absurd and creative ways. In the anime he just steamrolls everything without breaking a sweat, so it's pretty much "BAM. SLASH. Monster's dead, let's get some ice cream".

It's not a bad show, it's got the style of the games down, it just feels like watching someone play on Easy Mode.

That's a great line. I can't think of any way to disagree with that.

So by a mellowed out Dante from DMC 1, you really mean DMC 2?

In that one, all he did was flip a damn coin. And all the shooting was too slow in that one. I suppose it was because of the Tagline "Cooler than Hell" because normally Hell would be a particularly hot place, so during its cooling transitions, the action in the game was lukewarm instead.

After watching that trailer, I swear there was bits stolen from Hellsing spoiler[with Dante reloading his pistol with his mouth, and him carrying a silver and black pistrol respectively.]

Wikipedia notes that DMC was originally developed as an RE sequel around the same time as RE2, so it's likely a coincidence.

Dante is even more mellow in the anime than he was in DMC1. Whole thing was a big disappointment

It's not a disappointment imo. Just think of this as an alternate universe version closer to the manga than the game. The principal audience is Japanese anime buying fans so the emphasis is expected to be different here imo.

But I must admit that the trailer sucks majorly. Laughing

I loved the trailer. Especially the beginning. Even though I don't hear any good things about his series I still want to give it a try just to see what it's like.

I actually pre-ordered volume 1. I thought the heavy breathing of the demon to be laughable in the trailer.

The anime needs to be evaluated as a stand alone, alternate universe title. Comparing it too much to the game will only decrease your enjoyment of the title imo. From the threads that I was in that seemed to be the problem.

No, he at least talks often, even though he's not quite the espouser of corny one-liners ("Flock off, feather-face!"). Reuben Langdon will reprise his role as Dante in the show, so maybe he can bring the funny back.

I'm impressed that they got Reuben to do the voice of Dante for the anime. He's my favorite of the Dante actors.

I thought that too but I don't think it is stolen. It is just Very similar.

Forgive my ignorance but how many VAs were there for Dante?

I also hope they can bring back Lady and Trish's VAs. Wink
