Do events like this actually sell out/fill seats?

Yes, they most certainly do. Mizuki Nana and Tamura Yukari are the two top selling seiyuu singers in Japan right now, they sell enough CDs to make it into the Oricon chart's weekly top 10 (the equivalent of the Billboards). For example Mizuki Nana's previous one was sold out within a couple of hours, her attendance record was ~8000 at Budokan, and she had since now moved onto even bigger venues. Last record set is 12,000 at Yokohama Arena this year, and she's aiming for 15,000-17,000 next year at Saitama Super Arena. Although Yukarin's CD sales is a little less compared to Mizuki Nana, but her fans are WAY more hardcore and crazy and will most certainly fly from all over the country to attend.

Though in all honesty they will not use the full 15,000 seating arrangement of Budoukan since that arrangement is the full 360 degree circular seating that is meant for sports tournaments such as sumo wrestling. Most likely they will use the 3/4 seating which will sit around 6-8000 people, just like they did for Mizuki Nana.

I first interpreted the title to mean that she was going to play an entire arena of 15,000 single-handedly in some type of voice acting role. Laughing

Then I read the article and was disappointed. Razz

My! Yukari Tamura does have a cutie voice, and I even listen to a handful of her songs myself, but I had no idea she was this popular.

I saw AKFG at the Budokan 3 years back - the acoustics were okay but nothing special. Was a great show either way, though. I'll be curious to see what her attendance ends up being.

Interesting. I eagerly await Ms. Tamura's "LIVE AT BUDOKAN" album, featuring hits like "Surrender" and "Dream Police."

That's super cool. Yukari Tamura is definitely one of my more preferred recent seiyuu. Smile
