Weird title? But very happy to hear of a new project.

Very nice news. I haven't seen My-Otome yet (except for the first episode) but I loved My-Hime and I like having more of a good thing.
Maybe the Japanese will do something new set more in the My-Hime part of the franchise? (I recommend an OVA series about Natsuki and Shizuru's adventures in Yuri dating. Uncensored. ) I like this news very much. |

I second that. So hopefully this'll focus on Rena, and we'll get some actual screen time for Mai. Otome was weak, and then worse for having her for all of 3-4 episodes. |

I saw it coming. After all things nothing has been more exciting than the 'Otome' series. So of course it means let's milk it some more because the fans can't stop thinking about it.

I second that as well. I rather wish they would focus on the period where Shizuru, Natsuki, Haruka, and Mai were in Galderobe (sp?) or maybe more HiME. Otome lost all appeal to me in the second half. A great cast went to complete waste in my opinion. The Zwei OVA was no different. |

I'd rather see a My-HiME prequel, even if we already know more or less how it ends. But I'm still looking forward to this. Hopefull Rena will be a more interesting main character than Arika.

How come it's the bad series of the franchise that keeps getting all the OVAs?

Because the first series didn't really leave itself room for a sequel. Though I'm sure Sunrise could come up with a deus ex machina to work around it. A prequel would also have the problem of the outcome already being known. While it would be doable and I'd love to see it, that may be why Sunrise isn't bothering with it.
Basically, Otome just works better, with alternative world with lots of history to explore and the fact that (spoiler for HiME) spoiler[the characters don't lose all their powers at the end] and the plot allows for new conflicts much easier. The fact that's its more recent is also probably a big reason. |

Yuri dating: yes. (who doesn't love ShizNat?)
Hime sequel: yes Otome sequel: why? It seems like they could have another hime style sequal set AFTER the first one, with predominately different characters. A new HiME battle would still be unpredictable. Although, bringing back the old characters would be difficult after 100 years... cryogenic freezing, anyone? |

Sounds like a money making gimmick to my inner cynic.
No matter; As long as it delivers, hopefully it should be good, though so far I find the Mai-Hime/Otome series slightly above average. |

Now I'm assuming this is going to be another TV series. Or are they going to do an OVA?
I guess now we'll get a chance to see the other older otome's in action. I could use seeing some more Sara Gallager. Chances are we might have to let go of the old guys we know and love. Looks like more work for 'Hirokazu-sensei'. Milk, it? Yeah, but isn't that what it's all about? It is a 'Sunrise' baby. Though nothing can be milked more than 'Gundam'. I guess 'otome' fans want more. Don't know if anyone knows this but how many folks know that the majority of 'HiME/Otome' characters came from other shows that the artist has worked on? Like 'Gear Fighter Dendoh', and 'Cyber Formula'? Since watching the shows I've found many fans pulling out the jokes. Just goes to show you being an Japanese otaku has it's perks or you're a stone otaku. |

They haven't said either way yet, so it's hard to say. I'm guessing TV series, but there is no way to really know until they say more. |

Hmmm, this almost reminds me of that April Fools joke when HiME ended. Then it turned out that it wasn't a hoax. But then they changed everything up so much. Yeah, it's better to wait until they have final word. It's the only way to be safe. Let's see how much they futz around with people's brains. |

I second that too. More ShizuNatsu would be awesome!!! ^____^ As for a Mai-HiME prequel, the only thang available for that currently is the short story entitled 'Natsuki's Prelude', which deals with when Natsuki & Shizuru first met, reveals Shizuru's motivation for becoming kaichou, & when Natsuki first meets her Child. The end of that short story is the beginning of the anime series. There is another another novel currently being serialised in Japan called Mai-HiME: Destiny, but that is an AU thing from what I've read, though Shizuru does look very cool with a katana instead of her usual naginata. >>Click<<
The prequel (of sorts) for Mai-Otome, dealing with Shizuru, Haruka, Natsuki & Mai's years as Pearls & Corals is currently only available as a drama CD. Curiously, in that Natsuki is the one who falls in love with Shizuru first. |
