Well, I just finished this series tonight(courtesy of AS). With the exception of the praise for the dub, I cannot agree completely with the review. This show most definetly gets better. I'm not sure what number it is, but there is an episode that finds Esther and Aion in a situation that is both tense and moving at the same time. The music playing during that scene(actually it is at the end of one episode and continues in the next) is absolutely perfect and adds greatly to the effect. Those who have seen it know what I'm talking about, and to those who havn't seen it yet, you can definitely look forward to it!

The rest of the series does have its moments - especially the surprising revelations about who Seth and Esther really are, and finally at least partly explaining how Cain, Abel, and Seth are all related (geez, laying the Biblical names on pretty thick here, aren't they?) - but the inconclusive ending was weak and overall I found the second half of the series to be as much of a disappointment on the writing front as the first. It works well in its peak dramatic and action moments but never quite feels right at other times. And gods, but I wanted to smack the Pope silly every time he appeared!
Karl's right, the series is always at its best when focusing on Esther - and I'm not saying that just because she is, by far, also the series' most appealing-looking character. I've also always liked Colleen Clinkenbeard's work (Eclaire in Kiddy Grade and Hawkeye in FMA, among others), and hers is definitely the highlight dub performance in this one. Too bad she seems to concentrate more on directing these days. Must say I'm looking forward to Blood+ replacing it next week, as Trinity Blood has been the weak spot on the Saturday night schedule for the last half-year for me. |

From what I understand, the ending is the way it is because the auther of the original Trinity Blood novels died before he could finish and Gonzo decided not to come up with their own ending for the series.

I am sorry, but nothing made me change my original view of this series as a "poor man's" Trigun. And as the series moved on the similarities grew (I won't list them as this would become a pure spoiler post) and the weaknesses of TBlood vs Trigun grew even more. The lead has all of Vash's weaknesses as a character but none of his strengths. Side characters are wasted, except for Esther who steals the show far more than "the insurance girls" or Wolfwood ever did (this I consider another weakness of TBlood as the "lead" should be the "lead"). The one redeeming point of TBlood is the animation and man is it gorgeous, but that alone does not make a show good or even watchable. I am just happy that Blood+ is next.

I really like Astharoshe's reappearance in volume 4 and consider her the most "appealing-looking" character. I also like Michiko Neya's no-nonsense Astharoshe performance which reminds me of her Riza Hawkeye and Nancy from R.O.D. roles. I will agree that Abel is a fairly weak protagonist. I watched the first volume in English and actually thought that the voice for Abel worked better than Esther. This might be due to the extreme difference in tonal quality between the two Esthers. The English VA for Abel was able to pull off both wimpy and tough versions well. The LFE in the English 5.1 is ridiculously loud and the center is a bit low. I'm really enjoying this series, but then again I have a real weakness for Gonzo series. I love Funimation's packaging and extras and so far I found the notes fairly helpful. I only wish that the picture quality was better. |

While its true he died right before the series began, I'm under the impression they had more material than could possibly fit into 24-26 episodes to begin with. I don't think it would have ended any differently had he still been alive. |

That's the impression I got as well. I think the series could have used 2 more eps to tie things up. BTW, I am not getting any "Topic reply notification" e-mails for this thread. Is there something wrong with the system? |

Thanks Fiction Alchemist for the vote of confidence, but I am not sure it is deserved. Anyway here goes in no particular order:
spoiler[The protagonists/antagonists are "brothers" (Vash/Knives & Abel/Cain). Both pairs are human-looking, but superhuman in nature (and surely for TBlood and possibly for Trigun, the fruit of human experiments). Both Vash and Abel see themselves as atoning for their sins by helping humans. The obvious one, they look alike. Vash kills Bluesummers to save the insurance girls and Abel lets Cain "kill" him so Esther won't see him kill (OK I know this one is a stretch, but when I was watching it in TBlood the feel of the scene just reminded me of the one in Trigun). Both Vash and Abel are pacifists regardless of the power they have and their willingness to use it at times (although in Vash the pacifism looks natural and in Abel it looks forced/fake). They both "convert" to their fighting mode (Vash's angel arm/gun and Abel's grim reaper thing). Cain/Knives are the heads of "secret" organizations existing only to hurt Abel/Vash (primarily by killing other people). ] Well, that is all I have for now, I know that while watching TBlood there wasn't a single show I didn't spot 2 or 3 similarities, but these are all I can remember off the top of my head. |

Never before have I seen such a unanimous dislike for such a hyped show. The only question here is how do you explain Newtype and Anime Insider's rapid hype of such a below average anime? There are too many good anime out there for Adult swim to be wasting precious airtime on anime like this. Thank the heavens it's over.

This si the worst review of an anime i have ever seen. Trinity blood is one of the best built anime ever. The story line is a master piece, that is unless you are to stupid to understand it.
