I think it'll be interesting to see what later reviews of Destiny will be. As it goes on it seems to become more and more blurry as to whom the protagonist is. Rediculous plots and god-like characters seem to have left a lot of people with at best a "meh." feeling when the series was over.

It amuses me to no end to see this review posted just hours after my friend and I finished watching the series.
That said, I think it's a very fair and accurate review, though I am definitely curious to see what reviews of later discs will be like as well. Or to put it another way, I think one of the only reason why I never really felt the same level of Shinn-hate as many others who've seen the series apparently do is because within a few episodes my subconcious simply refused to recognize him as the main character and instead stuck Athrun in that role. >_>
And overall, there's lots of great potential for the series, but often times it just doesn't seem that the writers manage to follow through on the stuff they've set up. SEED did leave a few things unexplained in the end, and Destiny doesn't look to improve much upon that record...

The one thing I agree on in review is that artbox. It's a cool idea that just doesn't work out. I remember being so happy about having my cool and unique artbox, but everytime I need to move it or carried the damn thing falls apart on me. What gives Bandai? Also I too am worried about those magnet so close to my dear DVDs that I wish to protect.

What gives? Was the Japanese cast really that bad?

I really liked the original, it actually goes down as one of my favorite anime's. I just hope this series is entertaining and sort of... be's it's own anime. Given what I've heard, I can't really expect "amazing" from it, I just hope it enjoyable and doesn't look back at the original to much.

I'm guessing he meant the other way around . I'll probably like the dub better either way though.

Let me put you all at ease about the magnets - Worry about the show, not the packaging!
The CD's and DVD's you buy contain an aluminum layer, physically etched with tiny pits. There's no way a magnet can erase or change these physical dents in the media.
The CD's and DVD's you burn use a different type of media layer that is also non-magnetic.
Feel free to keep worrying about VHS tape and magnets – they don’t get along. But stack all the DVD's you want on the table of an MRI doing a full scan - and they'll be fine. Just don't ask me to pay the bill for that test.

Yeah, it's the other way around. Mostly my fault, putting the Dub and Sub grades in reverse order to the way they appear on the site when I submitted the review.

My main issue with the case was how flimsy it is and it looks kind of cool but its really impractical.
As for the rest of the review, I thought it was pretty accurate especially about the "supposed main character" Shinn not doing much.

uhm......DVD is optical media....why would magnetism have any effect on the disc?

Well, I won't flame, but I will act as a electric blanket (or a wet blanket, your mileage may vary)
I wasn't big on SEED and I'm even less big on Destiny. I have no preference towards UC/AC/DC/etc, but I felt SEED was way too much of a derivative to be anything noteworthy, and it's now starting to look like Sunrise is just trying to cash in rather than present a show a wider audience might like.
However, I must say the music for this franchise is excellent and you can't go wrong with ZAKUs and Haros.

The number one thing that has always attracted me to the CE storylines are the toys, the music, and the games.
I recentley played OMNI vs ZAFT II. Boy, is Strike Freedom totally cheap.
And yeah, expect a lot of bashing of this series if you tend to follow your anime after it's officially released/licenced.

Lol, that's hilarious!
I was chatting on a couple of boards as this was coming out, and after the last episode, yah, there was pretty much a whole lot of that going on - from both sides of the fanbase (old cast/new cast fans).
I think in trying to cater to both fanbases, the series managed to annoy a lot of fans from both sides. *shrugs* It's too bad, really. Like ACDragonMaster said, I wish they had followed through with more of the stuff - it felt like they kept changing their minds throughout the story.

Contrary to what you may belive, the Japanese cast CAN be inferior to the English dub cast sometimes. I don't see why some people praise the Japanese cast like they're gods or something and get all puzzled when they get a low score, like they're always perfect or something. They're not.

Some dubs, not the SEED/GSD dubs. Nagisa already said it was a mix-up.
