Ok, I'll be honest. There is no real special manga line extactly, but in my view, they must be extremely special to get a better format than other volumes in the Del Rey Line.
This Advance Line I speak up contains both Parasyte and Mushishi. Both of them are sold at $12.95, 2 dollars higher than other manga from Del Rey (Only execption to this rule is the Mature Line) plus they have a different cover texture than others and only two volumes are released a year from what I am seeing so far. This is possibly because both of them are award winners, but maybe not as well. Either way, these two series got special treatment. I'm pretty sure we'll see more series in the future which are treated the same way, but for now, these two are all we got. This forum is all about this so called Line's manga, releases, and series we want to see given this treatment by Del Rey. So besides this small opening by me, I'll start off this forum with some topics all ready. First of all, I got the release dates for Parasyte and Mushishi for the next ones coming up: Parasyte: Volume 2: October 30, 2007 Volume 3: April 29, 2008 Mushishi: Volume 3: Janurary 29, 2008 Volume 4: July 29, 2008 And one last thing before I sign off! While exploring Amazon.com, I discover a cool little book that Mushishi fans are gonna love! It may not be a manga, but you'll like it! DH Publishing is releasing the book called Mushishi Essentials: A Wanderer Handbook, Mysteries and Secrets Revealed. I might just pick up a copy and check it out! I don't know much about it, but it looks like it'll go into some cool detail about the Mushishi series.

I don't mind Mushishi getting a slow release date since it's only like 7 volumes in Japan (their rate is probably even more stagnant) but its annoying that Parasyte is at the two-a-year pace since its completed and they don't have to worry about catching up. It isn't like Mushishi where you don't mind getting the books nice and show either (imagine getting only two volumes of Monster or Death Note a year). At least its only 8 volumes.
But the best if yet to come, as next year we will see Me and the Devil Blues, Akira Hiramoto's brilliant fusion of historical drama, crime fiction, character study, American folklore and fever dream. Awesome reguardless of your familiarity with the music. |
