Oh wow, I didn't know NHK was still going. Interesting.

Probably the former. It's good thing, too. There's only so far one can go without having to drag out a story like Welcome to the N.H.K.. I've already seen a fair number already complain about its developments. And as for Calling You: I don't have much of an interest in the manga, though I'd like to see the novel. (If it has been licensed, please tell me.) |

The Calling You novel came out this month from TOKYOPOP. If you have trouble finding it in your favorite local store, try asking them to order it in. The author is Otsu-ichi and the ISBN is 978-1-59816-852-5.
As to this news item...I assume that must be another manga with the exact same name. The Otsu-ichi Calling You manga ran in Asuka and was complete in one volume. |

Both manga are by Otsu-ichi—that is, both are based on the same Kimi ni Shika Kikoenai: Calling you novel by Otsu-ichi. It's like the different Cowboy Bebop manga runs; in order to cross-promote with this month's live-action movie, another manga run was commissioned for Monthly Shōnen Ace. |

Like Flowers & Bees, a title like NHK (abusive to the main character) can only go on for so long).
And anyone who likes NHK might try FLowers & Bees (Bees & Flowers? Haven't read it in a year). |

I stopped reading Welcome to the NHK after the third volume. In all honesty, I thought it sucked because it really couldn't bring out any characters that showed potential, especially Sato.

The NHK anime wasn't based on the manga, so it didn't try to cover it at all. It was based on the novel (and might I add, follows the original novel closer than the manga does... This also creates a false illusion that Gonzo once again screwed up. For once, they didn't though... mostly). Also, added a comment on the anime entry stating it was based on the novel, since so many people seem to be confused about that (not just on this site). I have a feeling it was probably because the entry used to say it was based on the manga... which is false... |
