I’m genuinely enjoying this series, and looking forward to the anime. Weird that it seemed like for a while the only place really promoting this series was the born-from-RightStuf’s-hastily-discarded-porn-pile BuyAnime.com
TNFWIBYLU plays with one intriguing idea in volume 2, though I’m not sure how seriously it’s going to take it going forward. To wit: while Renako is so determined to be gal pals, Mai asks how different that really is from being lovers. The two concepts have more than a little overlap, and the Renako/Mai relationship drifts into a gray zone between the two, at least for a time.

Watanare is a lot of silly fun. I've read the first four LN (volume 5 is sitting on my desk) and find the manga version pretty solid also. I'm looking forward to when Kaho is more prominent in the manga.
Of course I've found most people's enjoyment depends on where Mai falls on their tolerability scale. I have different prescription lens for fictional characters than ones I wear in daily life, so I find her amusing. Results may vary, but Ajisai helps ease any bitterness that Mai may induce.
Looking forward to the anime.

Mai's behavior is definitely offputting a lot of the time, but wasn't there like a whole thing where she gets slapped for it and learns to take consent more seriously? Like, it is portrayed as a flaw she has and not something romantic.
...But frankly the way she's such a cartoon character at all times makes the whole thing come across pretty weird.

I really couldn't get into this one sadly, I tried really hard but Mai is just WAY too off-putting. Even after getting slapped down what I feel like is a few times she's consistently pushing Renako's boundaries in ways that feel very uncomfortable. A lot of us lesbians are hyper-aware of how we come off because of the association of sapphic desire and predation in the broader society so seeing Mai portrayed like that just left a bad taste in my mouth. If she ended up with Ajisai I'd be down but since it's clear Mai is endgame and I can't stand Mai... yeah. Alas.

If you are okay with me spoiling the LNs... Volume 4 ends with Renako deciding she wants to date both Mai and Ajisai, and a big part of Volume 5 is the three dealing with their new poly relationship
