Directed by Noriyuki Abe, who I don't think gets nearly enough credit for also doing GTO, one of the grandest slice of life dramas to ever be animated. We also get the joy of hearing another lead performance by Aoi Yuki. Definitely interested in this one!

I had been interested in this before, but decided to give it a pass. But Aoi Yuki? Yep, sold. I'll be here.

I still need to watch the second episode but the first one sure was an emotional ride. Going from the start of a relationship to then a happy family was nice to see, after that was ten years of gloom and finally you have your former wife return as a ten year old. It makes for quite the whiplash and the episode also makes clear that time is going to be an important theme going forward. Keisuke for example has someone interested in him and Marika may be back in the family but she is starting her own new life. They have all met again but things can not be the same as before.

Finally, Keisuke really does need to stop with the declarations of love in public, people would rightfully so find that alarming.

Shame that the story will have to be a bit (ALOT) rushed to fit into 12 episodes. May work with some rewriting, but I just hope to not see any unnecessary "polemics" among the discussion.

From what I remember, he being this way is relevant.

With the second episode things became a bit depressing rather quickly. On one hand we have the family that can nog longer fully be a family and on the other we have a single mom with a lot of issues to put it mildly.

Yeah, 5 episodes in and while the show is sweet most of the time it can be pretty bitter too. They can play family all they want but time has not stopped and that is becoming hard to ignore. I am slightly less negative about Marika's mom now (emphasis on slightly).

So we reach a climax and at least partial resolution half way through the run.

I would be considered a bad judge of this by most, but I have not found anything the least bit "squicky" in this show, which some feared at the start.

Episode 8

I am actually kind of annoyed now at the father and daughter, that they actually have a problem with the original girl coming back. I would think that her personality coming back and with it a total loss of the last several months is actually pretty awful. Any time they will be getting with their wife/mother would be taking the life away from this innocent girl, and is in no way fair to put onto her. I was actually kind of expecting the mother of said girl to forbid the two of them from interacting with her, because it might cause her to lose her daughter again.

Keisuke and Mai can easily stay away from Takae/Marika and let ler live with Chika. It's just a matter of time before she grows and starts to live with them again without hiding.

They were upset at the thought of losing their wife/mother for the second time and just as abruptly, because they didn't think it was a Takae or Marika situation. The father/husband is obviously way more conflicted about it once he realizes that

Nailed the ending (but some may not be happy with the pretense that was put on).

Wholesome, with nothing to appeal to lolicons or pedophiles (as some worried about before it started).

That was a good show. It felt like a complete story and it succeeded in getting you invested in the characters and their journey to move past their grief. I would say that the ending is sad yet I would rather call it hopeful and I honestly could not see it ending any other way.
