I'm sure the harem element implied in the promo artwork will turn a lot of people off- and I'm sure I'm the one deserving of judgment since it won't keep me from watching it. Just judging from the production values of the the trailer, this anime seems like it will be one of those isekai that didn't just get rushed out with minimal effort in order to milk a little easy money out of the isekai cash cow.
I also like that this is an isekai that will have an entire class get transported but seems to have a more humorous approach than the grim formula of power + entire classroom of students = instant sociopaths that drives revenge anime like Arifuta and what I saw of Failure Frame.. |

Having read the novels and manga I am very much in for watching it. In regards to many of the things that you mention Edjwald the answer is yes but also no. This in regards to the harem and being grim. Expect a wacky fun time.

That was a decent first episode. The adaption does not seem like anything amazing but it is not another one for the pile of isekai without any merit either. The mc is a cheerful/slighty crazy guy with his own plans and I like the laidback pace of him messing about with his collection of leftover skills and building up his forest home. Said collection of ''trash'' skills shine with some creativity.

Rather than being successful via creativity, the first episode just felt like he was rewarded for being a whiny bitch by being given a bunch of stuff he though did not have any value, which happened because not only did he not try to work with others he actively thought he was abandoning them so he alone would be safe. Are we meant to like him because he is the standard isekai protagonist in these sorts of things? Where I see he is kind of pathetic, via elements his self-sufficiency because he just succeeded at getting a bunch of convenient abilities outside of requiring much from him. The episode ending with him seemingly choosing to abandon his other classmates because of their cliques, which based on design probably won't include the girls with class president because with as tropes are the least "threatening" to him. And he is supposed to be close with the class president, but doesn't even refer to her as her name despite a longer history with her?

The show caught my interest with its "other" non-clique. "They seem interesting" I thought, as Haruka did his best to dismiss them offhand... and failed.
A harem of individualists? "Loner Life in Another World"? I guess there's going to be a mess of oxymorons in this premise. Weak skills being strong, weakness in numbers, characters being... characterless.... Fair enough, the series has already convinced why it's an isekai thing. Like, Jock #3 can have separate skills, friends and hobbies in the real world but after being isekai'd, he's lucky enough to be Jock #3. Wait... [looks at the cast list] I was just guessing, you know... |

Mmmmn...I neither like nor dislike this anime or this MC yet. He seems to be a bit off kilter, but I'd be hard pressed to say why yet. His desire to avoid the rest of his class seems pathological, and his reaction to the old god guy wasn't just rude - he seemed oblivious to what a pain he was being and the seriousness of the situation to say the least. He's self-centered, but I can't tell if he's supposed to be a derp for humorous effect or it's the thing he needs to work on or if the author just doesn't realize what a dillhole he's acting like. In any case, the MC doesn't seem like a schemer or a sociopath or an ultra violent edgelord, just an introvert to the point of being annoying . If I had to guess, this class is going to follow the typical Arifuta type scenario, and the MC is going to be outside of it playing Robinson Crusoe on Isekai Island instead of in the middle of events. That could be sort of interesting if it gets handled right. At the very least, it's kind of refreshing that the MC wasn't isolated, persecuted, and then barely survived a murder attempt before embarking on a path of self-righteous revenge.
I'll give it a few episodes to see what shakes out. |

The second episode both follows the Arifuta type scenario and deviates from it. The delinquents are very much the rapey sort of asshole group to cause issues. The nerds being isekai experts also fits. On the other hand, the mc while preferring to be a loner is actually a nice guy that is just awkward and a bit weird (plus he has actual friends in the class). There is also the gal group coming to their senses and realising what they did was not okay surprisingly fast.
So yeah, amusing enough yet not anything amazing. |

Did you miss the subjugation condition Haruka put on the gal group? He's not doing anything bad with it but... I have to back up a step here. Do you think the gal group is looking for the nerds in order to apologize and then team up or to apologize and then get them to do the dirty work again? See, I don't think Haruka has "subjugate others" as a skill but rather, something more like "turn about is fair play" Haruka Uno Reversed them but that only holds if they were looking for the nerds to use them again. |

I dunno, I want to like this. if only because it's the sole standard RPG type isekai offering this season. It's not like I miss the four or five cheap isekai knockoffs that usually tag along with a good isekai every season, but I do enjoy the genre when it's done well. I just don't feel like it's done all that well here. I'm not finding this anime funny enough as a comedy, or tense enough as an action piece. I don't particularly like or dislike the MC, but I do occasionally find him annoying. It's a hard sell.

@Animegomaniac I would like to believe that Haruka turned the Gals into subjucation targets without any ill will and without meaning to. He has so many skills that he does not even know half of what he can do. As for feeling sorry, for now the gals seem genuine in feeling reget, if that is all just a manipulative trick remains to be seen.

I'd say that is definitely the case as in Ep1 it was explained that being a "Loner" gave him the "Subjugation" skill but there weren't clear conditions for activation, so I think we have just seen that. His surprised reaction also backs this up, that the girls asking for his help and his agreement were all that was needed and he didn't consciously activate it.

Yup, the newest episode confirmed that is how subjugation works. It also showed that the gal group does indeed seem to feel genuine remorse for what they have done. Otherwise I liked the episode because the banter between the friendly yet insane mc and the girls is pretty amusing. The fighting bits showed that a higher level does not automatically mean easy winnings, skill is very much important too.
The ending surprised me in that we have a student running around killing other students and said person started with getting rid of the a-hole group. |

In reading up about the source after watching the first 2 episodes I found quite some curious comments on reddit. Apparently its got quite an amount of references to kinky sex in the novel series without ever committing to relationship style harem IE just getting into and desiring kinky sex situations. But that was dropped for the manga. Which might explain why most females are depicted like a naughty older sister authority figure rather then people who have formed friendships.
On a logic point you would of thought him agreeing to accompany an entire group of girls would run afoul of his loner life rule, unable to party up with people must subjugate them instead. Also the person maybe killed appeared to be the forced nerd tag along to the delinquents and was never depicted in scenes where the delinquents acted for their own interests. IE he would be considered their disposable lackey. |

In his defense, with the "subjugate" condition not being explained he probably didn't expect just helping the Gals (reluctantly) to result in them hanging around him and that wouldn't have been his aim to begin with. Having been called a Loner myself, it's probably not that he wants to be a hermit so much as not being interested in what the others of whatever group are into that makes them a "group". That leads to said group members socially isolating him. He actually would like to have friends but maybe only one or two, like that "Fish Girl" and "Class Rep" or one or two of the Nerds. Thinking on those terms that he uses, I think the show is insinuating that part of his "Loner Life" is how he himself is stereotyping the class members into groups, which puts himself outside of them. We may see that with further interaction, he sees that the others are more flexible than expected and can be friendly and that they see that he is really a nice guy and not the "weirdo" that you stay away from if you want to be keep social acceptance... |
