See, this is why I'll never get into yaoi. They're all about adult men domming a teenage sub. Props to the "fans" of the past that satirized it, and a good thing we have Yuri on Ice these days (I'm actually not a big PC guy and only kind of like YOI, but even I draw the line).
Still though, to whoever gets one of these, don't hit someone or something without their consent, for real. Unless it's a cricket ball, because frankly this would be perfect for that.

No offense, but it sounds like you haven't actually read much BL if you think that's what all of them are about. There's a lot more variety than that, especially nowadays; it's not the early to mid 2000s anymore, even though a lot of stereotypes from that period are all most people seem to know about it.
That said, I'd really rather not have yaoi paddles be brought back. They tend to encourage invading other people's personal space, and that's an especially big problem at conventions.

Logging into my ANN account for the first time in 48 years, and I'm saying this as a dude who is an earnest fan of BL and yaoi and the like, some things should've stayed in the 2000s. I've been to a good handful of anime conventions, and very unfortunately have had my ass hit with a yaoi paddle without my consent a good handful of times, I can't see why anyone would want this part of the culture back.

I'm sorry that happened to you, they are still not allowed at conventions and this relaunch is meant to just be for a keeps sake no more dangerous than a wooden spoon in the kitchen.

I hope you don't meet your goal. These are a terrible reminder of a terrible thing.

You aren't doing the same thing for yuri/GL which is much more niche. I really wish we can have some feature that will filter out news that we don't like. What is ANN trying to accomplish by tackling on everything that is yaoi/BL? |
????? ANN does plenty of coverage on yuri titles; almost every week I see a new graphic novel review based on yuri. BL has had a significant market growth and it still counts as anime news.

This is a terrible idea.
Sure, yaoi paddles didn't kill anyone AFAIK, but this is a net negative in the world. Make your own, don't crowd fund a batch production of it. Cons banned it for good reasons, and it's not just because it's being used to hit people without their consent.

“Complaining about trends you don’t follow”.
I’m also curious about this weird “ANN only talks about Yaoi” thing for the same reason you are.

Same, though I'm a girl. I got smacked mostly when I was underage since I turned 18 during the height of its popularity. It's super fun to be hit on while literally being hit on. -_-

To create a keepsake you can buy a canoe paddle for $20 from walmart, get a sharpie, and write "YAOI" on it. I wasn't around when they were popular, but it seems like more often than not they weren't fun to the recipients

Of course you had to make a new account to post this
You're not paying much attention if you haven't seen the yuri related content ANN posts every now and then.
That said, I agrre with others about how terrible this idea is.

Can we not?
It’s rich that the artist is saying let’s keep it wholesome when it’s not like anybody out there is using these things to paddle a boat or something.
