How long is this arc, how many episodes can they make ? Is it enough for 24 episodes or barely enough for 12 episodes ?

The 1st season adapted the first 6 arcs of the manga up until the Rehabiliation Training arc with roughly 2 chapters per episode, and the movie adapted the Infinity Train one, which should give you an idea of how short this season will be, since there's no confirmation yet that this season will indeed go beyond the ED arc.
It's very likely it will go for one cour, though, given the math, and I'm getting the feeling that Ufotable with stretch the anime, not with filler, but adapting just one arc per season.

Here's the math:
Season 1 adapted up to chapter 53 (plus 3 pages of ch. 54 but let's round it down) in 26 episodes. That's a rate of 2.04 chapters per episode (ch/ep).
The movie adapted chapters 54 through 66 (13 chapters).
The next season should be adapting up to chapter 97. That's 31 chapters. If they go with the rate of the first season they would need:
31ch ÷ 2.04ch/ep = 15.2 ep
That's basically 15 episodes. I think that a 13-episode season should be enough given that the later part of the arc is pretty action heavy and those tend to be adapted at a faster rate. Also, I think the first season could have been adapted in less episodes since the last 4 or 5 eps. dragged a little in my opinion.
P.S.: When I looked at the thumbnail for this news, for a moment I tought they were gonna fight an evil female Luffy.

Uhhh because this is a news website and they are reporting the news? If ANN doesn't know the answer to something, they aren't going to make it up (a la the years of ""news"" websites saying 'Attack on Titan season 2 is delayed!!!' when it was never announced in the first place).
Anyway I look forward to season 2, so I can read more bad faith criticism about how 'show bad because sister isn't focused on enough and therefore...sexism?'

Wait, were people actually criticizing the show over that? I thought she had enough screen time and moments.

Stick around long enough and you'll see it.

Clearly he is talking about whoever is in charge of season 2 (aniplex/ufotable), and I agree. they are stalling for way too long.
This news reveal was said to be "big" related to season 2, and it ends up being a 5 seconds teaser and more broadcasts for the movie, which at this point everyone has seen. and STILL no release date.
Fall season is in like 2 months, and still no release date announcement anywhere to be seen.

Well...I thought the "stalling" was a pretty good move from the standpoint of the Japanese fans. They're maximising their profits from the movie with merchandising and the special viewing, after all.
The series is pretty much guaranteed a massive audience regardless of whenever it airs, and the confidence they have with 30 broadcast channels, as well as the insistent 2021 date seems to imply they might have set when it's airing. Besides, the movie will be broadcast on Japanese TV, and with announcing the cast and possibly a new PV then, I don't think they'll delay too long after with airing the season.
Lack of a set date at the moment might give the studio some leeway to finish animating without needing to go into crunch (this is entirely an assumption). With the expectations they've set for the series, I don't imagine they want a failure at any point.
It might be annoying for international fans, but then the priority was pretty clear with the region-locked stream, in contrast to the Aniplex stream which was open to all fans.

"Entertainment District" sure is a very skittish way to translate "yukaku".

so I have no idea what they are doing. unless they do not intend to release the season in the fall, perhaps it's gonna come during the winter season, right at the end of 2021. |
I just fail to see why this matters at all. Either the show will premier this year...or it won't. Maybe there will be a special screening in December...or maybe it will be delayed until the winter of 2022? Or maybe it will come out in October? We will know eventually, so why get upset?
Also perhaps this ambiguity has more to do with how ufotable doesn't know themselves when season 2 will be released? My assumption is that they are working hard and want to give themselves wiggle room/flexibility. Which, btw, we should ALL be happy with. In a world where so much anime is released unfinished, why should we be upset if a studio is going to take their time making sure a series (that is known for its high quality animation) has...well... high quality animation?
Can you or SP654 explain why any reasonable person should be upset about not having an exact date of release? It isn't like season 2 was canceled... I'm very confused.
