Considering how traditional Imaishi says he is, there is an awful lot of CG compared to his earlier works.

I am sorry to say, those backgrounds just look horrible to me. I'm usually a big fan of TRIGGER stuff, and I do think the character designs and some of the animation look stylish as hell, with some really great TRIGGER personality. But like, half the time the bad guys were on screen I had no idea what I was looking at, and another quarter of the time they were fighting Kamina my eyes were just giving up on being able to follow anything at all.
The other quarter of the time they looked pretty cool though. I think a whole movie of this would make me physically sick to sit through, but maybe it's easier to look at for the rest of the runtime. I really want to like it! |
