Not really... Because the middle third as largely repetitive and over simplified addressing of the main cast's "issues" or some muddled social commentary or another. Kind of like a mud puddle, shallow opaque muck.
For me, it doesn't matter how wonderful or whatever a show is by it's end or considered "as a whole". I'm watching it week by week, and week by week it has to not bore or annoy me. (Girl in Twilight is one of a very small number of shows that managed both.) |

For me, that's not an issue because ─ with the exception of slice-of-life ─ I prefer to marathon a series. |

I gave this a 6/10 after I finished watching it.
It was interesting enough as it went along but the characters weren't that great, Asuka was very annoying most of the times. |

I really liked this series and it's a shame it went completely under the radar, so I'm happy to see this overall positive review. The thing that really stood out to me the most was how this group felt more like a real group of friends who would actually hang out together in real life than most anime have. The story, while not original for fiction overall, was still pretty different than what anime tends to offer.
It's a shame there likely won't be a continuation. |

I dropped this because the animation got soooo wonky and low budget looking and I suspected it wasn't going to have any resolution to the mysteries ...sounds like I was right.

The resolutions to the mysteries are all in the mobile game, which recently shut down. I don't think the show really has any merits of its own. It basically just existed to advertise the mobile game, and that's gone now.
Some of the later episodes do have more interesting presentation, but they don't make the earlier parts actually good, and they don't compensate for not answering most of the mysteries. I ended up giving the show a 3/10. |

I enjoyed watching this as it aired, it was fun seeing what kind of world they'd end up in, and what the alternate versions of the characters would be like. I feel like watching the anime without the game was fine.

I liked it and it definitely was an above average series in my mind despite some budget problems. I'd list the voice acting, some well planed scenario/plot progression, the humor and some inventive power up designs as positives as well as, amazingly enough, any lack of real answers or a conclusion.
That last one is often hard to explain but some "coming of age" stories can successfully pull off the ending where the writer can declare "this is all we can do here because if we continue, this will become a story about adults." Also, the series really caught my attention and imagination when Yu... the glasses girl... learned that her alternate self in the first world was married to a guy and she had zero interest in learning anything about it. At all, not who it was or if her other self was happy about it, nothing. This lack of introspection in her character... contrasted against all the other girls curiosity about themselves... was the driving theme of the series. For a mobile game adaptation, its contemplative approach to character development was a surprise. And then there's Asukas. For both comedy and drama, I really can't think of better works where the lead character has to, for want of a better way to say it, deal with their personality problems as a literal manifestation as another person. I don't recommend bingeing the series as I think taking time to think about the direction the characters are going is part of the intended viewing experience. |

Dude the game diverges heavily from the anime and doesn't solve any of the mysteries within the show. It was advertised as a tie in to the anime, and not a continuation. The whole point of this project was to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Animax with an original show. I for one, really enjoyed Girls in the Twilight. I thought each character's arc was interesting and I even thought the CG combat looked good. I hope this anime doesn't end getting forgotten but the outlook looks grim on that side. |

I really enjoyed the show, and found the other worlds thing as kind of interesting. My favourite was probably the cowboy world, which not only had the interesting setting, but multiple versions of characters interacting. And I thought it had some interesting resolutions to the problems the girls had, especially interesting near the end where they were faced with the idea they could still fail unless they put effort and take the reigns.
Not really knowing anything about the game, I just assumed mysteries being left open for a possible sequel after the personal thing with Asuka at her core. I still have the theory that spoiler[the king of twilight was related to the brother.] |

It sure could of. I am thinking for example we could potentially have fun predicting what kind of world and Asuka and company would end up next and see if we were right on are guesses. Plus the story touches on some topics that would have made for some interesting discussions.
I do not recall thinking any of the themes being presented were heavy handed when I was watching this. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I had fun watching this anime and seeing what adventures Asuka and her friends got themselves into. The themes presented were really good and I think I might resonated with one of them. I also enjoy both the opening and ending theme songs. The opening did sounded great and the ending theme along with its visuals was not only relaxing but nostalgic for me. The CG animation did look a bit out of place for me in a 2D show (I generally prefer it if a show stick to being either 2D or CG unless it can be handle very well), but it was not a serious problem. The major downer for me was that we do not get a closure on the plot, and given that the show did not do so well it’s looking to me highly likely we are not getting a sequel. I so wanted to know what happen to Asuka brother, and seeing who this Twilight King, the mastermind of this whole cluster mess, would have been nice. Oh and what of the boy taken from Seriouska world and the body he is inhabiting as well as the reason behind Yu alternate self getting them involve in world traveling in the first place? Being that a few people here are sharing what ratings they gave this show after I finish watching The Girl in Twilight and thought about it, I thought to give it a 4 out of 5, which makes a great show (pretty much in alignment with what Theron Martin gave it as that is like a equivalent of getting a B). It was a fun show with good themes but the plot wasn’t 100% resolved. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
I was thinking there could be a connection as well. |

Almost certainly there were forum threads here, on Crunchy, and on Reddit. Plus any number of bloggers reviewed it weekly. Plenty of places for weekly conversations even without regular weekly reviews. |
