Wow! I loved it as a game but never bothered with the animated show. last month I stumbled on it on cable and have been following it religiously...yeah yeah, I know it's an old show but what the heck...I just love the style and the whole drama...

There have been so many incarnations of Street Fighter, I have parts of two of them. The complete listing is as follows:
Street Fighter II: The Movie
Street Fighter II V
Street Fighter Alpha
Street Fighter: Generations
I haven't seen all of II V, but the first half I've seen of this series definetly establishes itself as an adaption of the game. Alpha was okay, I can understand why I was able to get the DVD for three dollars. Alpha felt like MK: Annihalation. I really want to see the movie, I hear that's one of the best out of the entire series.

Out of the 3 incarnations I've seen I really liked Street Fighter II V and Street Fighter II: The Movie. They had interesting storylines and mostly believable martial-arts styles, aside from the hadou aspect that is. Of course a lot of the styles shown inI I V are actually real so that helps.
I'd avoid Street Fighter Alpha as it's devoid of most things that make a film good like an interesting story or characters. I was very underwhelmed by it, and think it's a really bad rehash of the franchise and just decided to skip the sequel Generations as well, which I'm assuming also sucks unless somebody who's seen both can tell me it's better.

I saw a subbed version of it by way of someone watching it on their computer in the school arcade, but I couldn't get any of the voice dialogue at all, so I don't know how good it sounds. The action was okay, gave some interesting hints here and there, MAY be worth checking out. I would say that you shouldn't buy it unless it goes on sale big time, because I'm not going to pay 22 dollars for 40 minutes of a show that looked okay. Not saying it's bad, but renting it may be better.

Street Fighter II V is actually not that great of a show... unless you are a street fighter fan, which I am. I really enjoyed watching all the favorite video game characters interacting and the extra long episode titles .
The movie was darker and more of what you'd expect from a movie; a quick story for character interaction with a final fight. Not the greatest either, but Chun-li's Boobs!
Alpha was the first SF anime I got to watch. I agree it's not the greatest, but the animation isn't that bad. The fighting is solid and the story is meh. The main flaw with this title is the no-name who was chosen to be the "boss". If it was Vega, or M.Bison as he is known the majority of americans, people would have probably accepted it more.
Generations was a complete rip-off for its price tag, its not the first title to be sold for $25 msrp with only 45 minutes of estimated run time. I actually don't remember much of the movie besides hating the art style, story elements, and akuma's horrible character design (which I guess goes with art).
I'd say that SFII Movie and Alpha are the best out of these 4 series. II V is one of those series that doesn't appeal to all viewers.

I've been a hardcore Street Fighter fan since I was 5. I watch Street Fighter II V everyday on Encore-Wam and I like it. It is an older series but I just like the series a lot, I guess because I love the game so much. I just love seeing the fight scenes with my favorite characters.
On another note, I bought Street Fighter Alpha The Movie about 2 years ago and I'm still in love with it. I consider it the best out of the Street Fighter animated series.

I can't take Street Fighter II V seriously at all. The story basically destroys the character's storylines, making them in almost every instance horribly worse. Chun Li is much weaker, Ken and Ryu are too goofy at times, and Cammy . . . ugh. I mean it's decent but not canon to the games. Really the series focus on Ken and Ryu's journeys, which is fine.
I like Street Fighter: The Movie and heard good things from Alpha.

Well, I've seen all the adaptations and heres how I rank them.
Street Fighter II: Movie- This is easily the best one, with a good story, and some good fights and it sticks quite well with the games.
Street FIghter Alpha:- Yes this doesnt really stick well with the games and practically anything story wise was shot out, but the fights in this movie were probably the best in all of the anime so I gave it 2nd.
Street Fighter II V- This was an OK series that shot down most of the characters from what they were supposed to be but did an ok job in making them into what they were in this show. I like the animation for this show and the Opening theme is awesome. However they used the same animation for the fights way too often.
Street Fighter Aplha Generation- For whoever decided to just skip this one, you win. This movie blew in almost every way, The animation was good but it ruined the look for all the characters. The story was retarded, the fights sucked and there wasnt all that many characters in it anyway. BAD movie.

I own all but Street Fighter II V.
Street Fighter II: The Movie is the best. The voice acting wasn't as good as the others, but the character designs stay true to the game. I liked the story and the way it included a variety of characters, much more than the other two movies I've seen.
Street Fighter Alpha comes in a close second. It was pretty good, but didn't include as big of a cast as Street Fighter II: The Movie. Also there are some original characters like Dr. Sadler, the main villain of this movie. As to why M. Bison isn't in this movie is beyond my knowledge.
Street Fighter Alpha: Generations was just plain bad. At a full price movie it was only 45 minutes long!!!!. It just seemed like the first half of a movie to me and not a compete story.

Personally, Alpha is my favorite. The production qualities are the best out of all the incarnations I've seen (haven't seen Generations yet, and don't really want to).
The artwork is clean, yet gritty, and personifies the character designs of the Alpha series very well. The one and only thing I didn't like about the art was that stupid excuse of a villain. I mean, damn, Gouki/Akuma was creepy looking, but to throw in that crappy doctor at the end? And all his "power" was just a cheap copy of the dark hadou. I just can't get over how they Gouki-fied his face and body structure. He looked like a mutated pig on steroids .
Anyway, that one minor flaw aside, the rest of the movie is produced with high quality, in my opinion. The orchestral score is a big change from all of the punk rock of the II movie and synth stuff in the II V series, and I feel it adds a lot more drama and intensity to the atmosphere. Add to the fact that this title was mixed in 5.1 Dolby Digital, and you've got a great compliment for the sound effects and voice acting (good for either language).
But getting to the "jist," if you want to call it that, the plot/characters is just as weak as all of the others. I mean, who watches an anime based on a fighting game for the story? It's all about the fighting and the possible character interaction (depending on the source material).
After playing a lot of the Alpha series, I found myself unconfused and understood the characters with ease. In fact, I'd say it has a little more depth in that you get to see Ryu in a different light; his psyche in discovering that "little brother," his struggle with the dark hadou and all of that martial arts discipline stuff, and ultimately how his very presence can affect so many people around him. It should be obvious if you've played the games that he's the main character, and Alpha The Movie does a good job showing his importance.
The fights, though, are a real treat. Fluidity is key here, and I wasn't dissappointed by a single roundhouse, dashing punch, or swirling wave of ki around Ryu or whoever. I can tell a lot of work went into making this, and I'd hate for it be dismissed only because of II The Movie came out first.
Or, maybe I just don't view II The Movie like I used to after coming to the realization years later that what I saw was an edited, Americanization. And I really don't feel like wasting money to buy the unedited version after seeing it so many times already (unless it's just that much better in Japanese...).

I like all the incarnations of Street Fighter because they all bring something to the table.
Street Fighter 2 the movie-- This is just a pure game adaptation. You have all the main characters here in a movie that I feel is the game animated. Nothing fancy at all. Just the main characters you loved fighting with kicking ass. For it's time the fight scenes are very well done I think.
Street Fighter Alpha--- You get to see more of the history behind the characters. You really get to see Ryu in a new light and see how he fights with his own inner demons. You also get to see some back history behind some of the characters in the alpha games.
Street Fighter IIV-- This series was nice because it was original. Instead of simply having thei powers the characters had to learn them and practice. Ryu didn't simply pull off a Hadoken he had to learn it first. This series really made them seem more human.

MY problem with Alpha is the last villian, and not getting to know enough of a lot of the characters that came up. As I said earlier, it literally felt like MK Annihalation all over again, when you try and squeeze every single character that you possibly can into a limited amount of time.

Damn right! It's fun to see the game characters interact. that's the most fascinating part of it (At least to me).

If we got to see a full fight between Ryu and Akuma at the end of 'Alpha', I would have put it above SFII: The Movie. Alpha is a big disappointment.
