This is going to be so weird. Is it even Galaga if it has a story and characters?

This reminds me of how the Ridge Racer franchise would include several Galaga-themed designs, as if to establish some semblance of lore to the game.

Castlevania seems to have started a trend, with this as well as Adi Shankar's plans for more animated video game adaptations like Assassin's Creed and possibly Metroid. Sure, anime already adapts visual novels and fantasy JRPGs, but not much else, at least that's worth remembering.

I wonder if they'll include elements from Gaplus? Otherwise known as Galaga3, but almost no one has ever heard of it. Most peoples knowledge stops at Galaga 88.
But I think an anime based on it will be a hard thing to pull off. Hope to be surprised. |

It will fail hard. Galaga isn't something you can make into a cartoon or an anime.

In a sense, this is an extremely easy video game to adapt into anime or other types of fiction.
The game hardly has any characters or backstory to start with. So whoever is writing the script has nearly a free hand. They can use any interesting idea for a story that involves invading aliens, and simply go with that. |
