It's $49, now. Oh, the humanity, I guess.

So... exactly what it's been on Rightstuf in the US for years?

The difference is Righstuf is a niche boutique store. Amazon is King Kong. There's no good reason for them to increase it other than yet another anti-consumer attempt to get people to sign up for Prime.
Not that I really care all that much. I have access to two different Prime accounts if I need to buy something from them, but most of my media comes from Best Buy anyway. |

Rightstuf also doesn't charge tax and their shipping usually comes out cheaper.

I've heard that they are losing money on Prime memberships... mainly because people use the free 2-day shipping option to buy things like, ya know, a pack of batteries or a $3 bargain DVD- without anything else.
So... maybe it's a precursor to instituting modest shipping minimums for shipping on Prime? It'd be like saying, "yeah, you have to spend $15 for free 2-Day shipping, but at least it's not a $50 minimum for economy shipping!" |

Well, unless this is some sort of holiday weekend special, we're back to $25 minimum for free shipping.
