Looks like it will be the next in Tatsunoko's remake list! Gatchaman Crowds, and Yatterman Night were fun, so this probably will be as well!

A new show of Speed Racer?
I watched most of Speed Racer growing up and I enjoyed it all the way to its end. I hope the remake of it will be just as good as the initial show. |

I think I remember spoiler[Yatterman] having a Speed Racer-like cameo in one of the episodes. Kinda curious to see what this one will be like.

I remember SRE giving us a couple of cheesy US pop-nostalgia remakes, a la Harmony Gold/Robotech, but no Japanese ones--
(SRE wasn't Carl Macek was he? He was heavily into nostalgia-marketing Speed during the Streamline days, since he had a sideline in expired 60's cartoons.) Between those and the Wachowskis' movie (it's good, you just didn't see it because you rushed off to Indy/Crystal Skull--Well, was it money well spent?), it seems like Speed just hasn't been away all that long to merit another update, but nice to see what the original creators do. |

Interesting. I wonder how this'll turn out?
Also, when is Tatsunoko finally going to release Mach GoGoGo with English subs here? If we got Casshan, we can sure as hell get Mach GoGoGo. |

I hope a renewed interest in the title can get us a full release of Speed Racer X in some form, considering it's nearly impossible to watch.

If it's going to be like Gatchaman Crowd then i'll surly pass on it. I didn't see Yatterman Night yet.
Personally i think that the 90s remake of their heroes shows were very nice and i prefer to have the remakes this way not the Gatchaman Crowd style if that's the modern audience they mean. |

I really hope this keeps the spirit of the original series, while of course updating it for the 2010s. I actually really enjoyed the Wachowski film, and I thought it at least did a good job of making a memorable film of a classic property. This was like THE anime in the US pre-Voltron/Robotech.

For those who've never, ever gotten around to seeing it, the world's changed after seven years: - We know what Marvel movies look like after Iron Man, - It turned out not to be such a big deal that Indiana Jones came back, after all, - The Dark Knight isn't what it used to be, now that he Sank, - We're now re-familiarized enough with the show to know that the kid and the chimp actually WERE in the freakin' cartoon, - And after that Jupiter thing, we've stopped expecting the Wachowskis to make "the next Matrix", and are just grateful if they can make a good, coherent movie for once. (The rest of the Trilogy didn't help either.) So how about it, huh? Maybe you might like to take a look at it now, if you've got nothing better to watch? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8V8sLlqJB2w |

Yeah, especially with the rights issue apparently cleared up. Mach Go Go Go is one of the few 1960s anime shows that actually would hold up quite well to modern viewers, story wise. I was surprised how well many of the driving sequences held up when I saw a few of the original episodes recently. A lot of people forget how Tatsunoko really put a lot of effort into making their first color TV anime an impressive one, and I think aspects of that still show when watched today. As for remakes...I don't know. Speed Racer touched a unique chord in its time period. The allure of fast cars still endures, but that sort of post-war modernization that Speed Racer represented was a big part of the appeal of the show, and I don't know if you can capture that in a remake. The 90s remake was pretty poor. I'd hope they don't remake it into some anime version of the Fast and Furious movies...
