Damn best buy and there exclusive deals, oh well I got my Ergo Proxy on sale at Amazon.....although that signed sketch would of been really cool. By the way I noticed the OST being talked about, is the music that good for this series?

The soundtrack is okay depending on what context you apply when listening to it. I personally thought it was excellent in fitting with the flow of the story and expressing that really dark atmosphere. It has a nice mix of synth and orchestrated pieces and exudes a somewhat mysterious/creepy vibe during some of the later episodes.
However, as stand alone music it's not all that exciting unless you can remember the scenes by heart. A lot of the tracks share maybe 2 or 3 of the same rhythmic pattern that depends on drums/synth, strings, and/or Gregorian chant. There isn't any kind of melody that they use as a main theme either, so it's difficult to remember any particular track. If I had to pick between the two OSTs, though, Opus 1 would be the better choice. It has more upbeat pieces with more of the drum rhythm I mentioned, as well as the full version of Paranoid Android. Opus 2 has more of the slower stuff, lots of string pieces and vocal chanting. |

No purchase necessary to enter the raffle. You don't have to buy the DVD from BestBuy or even at all to enter.
Might want to update the post with that info. |

I call foul on Geneon for handling the second OST of Ergo Proxy. I mean, really, a lot of fans (myself included) has the first volume WITH THE BOX pre-ordered, and it would be rather trivial to buy the first volume again with any extras other than the second OST.
I really hope that the second OST is planned to be released individually at some point, otherwise as a fan I'm definitely going to feel slighted.
Actually the track listing from the official site doesn't have "Paranoid Android" listed as the nineteenth track on the first OST like the official Japanese release, which is a bit odd. It's not much of a problem for me, though, since I've already got the song from Radiohead's "OK Computer" album (like any good Radiohead fan should).
Makes for nice background music, at least. |
