i was curious about how anime gets..well... animated

i now they dont usually use the cell technique anymore
and that its mostly done on computers... but what kinds
of hardware and software are the industry standard?
and are there cheaper solutions for homemade anime?

Actually, many do use cel techniques and many of the drawings are done by hand. They use various types of 3D software as well. Many of these 3D software packages have 'cel-shading' rendering add-ons that allow the models to appear as if they've been hand drawn and colored, which helps them blend well with the hand drawings.

There are many resources on the net covering this. The best I've found is Animation World Network.
